Review: Masquerade (Heven and Hell #1)

Masquerade (Heven and Hell #1)

by Cambria Hebert

Genre: YA Paranormal Romance

BLURB:

I'm disfigured. Scarred. Ugly.

When I look in the mirror, I see a stranger. When I look over my shoulder, no one's there…

Yet I feel watched. Hunted. Afraid.

And then he tells me I’m beautiful.
He tells me I’m safe.
I believe him.
Until someone tries to kill me.
Secrets abound, danger is near, and still… my heart desires a boy with whiskey-colored eyes and far too many secrets.
Secrets that could cost me my life.
To stay alive I have to look deep, beneath the masks everyone wears, to find the truth.
To find myself

MY THOUGHTS:

Masquerade was an amazing reading.
A while ago I've read the prequel to get a taste of the series and was totally hooked so I decided to give it a shot.
The book was super entertaining, fast paced, it had the correct amount of action and mystery.
I admit I guessed what he was early in the book but it's probably because I read a million YA Paranormal romance a year lol. The way it is revealed it great though.
I liked the plot very much because of its originality and the character development because they had very clear personalities. The interactions between Heven and Sam are perfect and the way her "scar issue" is used, was very smart.
I enjoyed the parts about "the hope" and "the Hate" very much. I think that's very clever too and different.
What I'm not so sure about is the end... I didn't like that much, that's why I gave this a 4 stars rating instead of 5.
Anyway, I'm a still curious to know more and more about Heven's mission and their relation that of course I will be reading the sequel.
